Welcome to The Mussel Bar

A fresh, dynamic and innovative venture to the Camps Bay strip. With this in mind the idea of a single dish, locally produced, menu offering came about.

The thought behind this concept was to create a a unique, rustic, comfortable and simple experience for our customers. Customers ideally walk off the beach in beach gear, sand on their feet and join us at The Mussel Bar for either the 500gr or 1kg mussel offering, accompanied by hand cut fries, rosemary salt, aioli and rustic bread. The meal is eaten with wooden cutlery and enjoyed with a local beer, glass of wine or delicious cocktail.

The Vibe

A rustic, simplistic ambiance, incorporating old school surf movies, lazy Sunday afternoon tunes and tasty food.
Customers are welcome to walk off the beach in beach gear, sand on their feet and join us at The Mussel Bar

The Chef

Laeticia has been with The Bay Hotel since 2000. Through years of self training and learning from her superiors she has moved around the hotel as a chef, starting in the banqueting department and moving on to breakfasts and dinners at the Tides restaurant before her appointment as head chef at The Mussel Bar. Laeticia is passionate about her position at the the new restaurant, commenting that she loves the vibe and excitement generated within the restaurant. She feels honoured when she is called from the kitchen to graciously accept compliments on her cooking or is asked to pose for a picture with patrons. Further she is delighted to be running her own kitchen and embracing the exciting challenge that The Mussel Bar offers.

The Menu

THE FOOD:
Fresh Saldanha Bay mussels (served in either a 500gr or 1kg portion), beer sauce, hand cut fries, rosemary salt, aioli and rustic bread.

Prawns in a mild and spicy coconut sauce.
Half portion: 6 prawns served with chips, aioli, rosemary salt and home-made bread R75
Full portion: 10 prawns served with chips, aioli, rosemary salt and home-made bread R150
Chicken Salad R75.
Cured Meat Platter R95.

A range of local beers, wines and cocktails.
